I love it when great content is rewarded for being great content.

When I first saw Don McAllister’s Video Podcasts (over at ScreenCastsOnline.com), I thought he was one of the many “nice guys” out there who made great tutorials for the masses (for free). When I first moved over to the Mac last July, Don offered me a free 6-month membership to his Video Podcast site. I didn’t even know he was charging for the thing.

I quickly realized two things: his content was first rate and this guy had a very interesting business model. When I asked him how well he was “converting,” I was floored with the numbers. We met at Podcast Expo II and I found myself as impressed with him as a person as I was with his content and model. I knew I had to have him on the show.

In episode #6 of Profitable Podcasting, we spend nearly a half hour with Don who explains where he came from, how he got to “quit the day job” without the help of anyone else’s VC money, and where he’s going next.
